Armadillos roll into balls to protect itself against predators. Likewise, Armadillo Luggage closes its wheels and handle bar protect itself against thieves.

 

This project is my graduation project in higher diploma. It focus on the problem of luggage storage and identify in conveyor belt.

 

The design can reduce the chance of being stolen.

 

 

 

 

Background information

Why the luggage security is important:

• The biggest influence to tourism reputation. Hong Kong airport is the world's busiest airport.

• Many people come to Hong Kong every day.

• Actually, the airport is overload and chaos -> Staff is not enough and it has many people to come.

• The conveyor belt is not fully on security and the length of the conveyor belt is long. People might easy to take away the luggage which is not their belonging.

• The big problem is the luggage has been stolen before passengers arrive.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Concept and Value

Armadillo Luggage utilizes a magnetic lock on the wheel base to secure the wheels and the handle bar, discouraging thieves to wheel away the luggage. 

The magnetic lock can be released with the user’s smart phone through Bluetooth technology. Then, the traveler can swing out the hidden wheels from the body along with the handle bar. Pressing the release button underneath can also extend the handle bar.
